Ecodivision(TM)
Ecodivision (e•co•di•vi•sion, pronunciation: e-co-de-vi-zhen, a noun), meaning: a division of land utilizing sustainable design principals. An ecodivision is based on energy efficiency and reduction in greenhouse gas emission strategies.
The design principals include an appropriate mix of uses, alternative modes of transportation, renewable energy, water conservation, and LEED standards for new construction, homes, and neighborhood development. Ecodivision design standards can be applied to all types of development, resulting in man-made impacts to the earths surface that have a minimal carbon footprint and are compatible with the natural environment.
The design criteria for an Ecodivision(TM) incorporates the LEED standards for buildings with the LEED principals for neighborhood development. These principals and standards can be utilized for residential communities, non-residential developments, mixed-use projects, and institutional uses to create a holistic environment in which all aspects, not just the buildings, contribute toward sustainability and integration into existing and surrounding communities.
